Budget Silos ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use the Budget Silos mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password, or the authentication token provided by Sign in with Apple. We do not store your Apple ID or any information Apple chooses not to share with us.
Bank connection data. If you choose to connect a bank account, we use Plaid to establish that connection. Plaid handles your bank credentials directly — we never receive or store your bank username or password. We store only an encrypted access token on our servers, which is used solely to retrieve your transaction data on your behalf.
Transaction and financial data. We retrieve transaction data from your connected bank accounts to display within the app. This data is stored securely and associated with your account.
App usage data. We may collect basic, non-identifiable usage information (such as crash logs) to improve the stability of the app. This data cannot be used to identify you.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect information beyond what is necessary to operate the Service. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Your bank username or password
- Your Social Security number or government ID
- Your location data
- Your contacts, photos, or other device data
- Any information for advertising or marketing purposes
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Connect to your bank accounts and retrieve transaction data on your behalf
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Respond to your support requests
- Comply with applicable law
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with the following third-party services that are necessary to operate the Service:
- Plaid Technologies, Inc. — provides bank connectivity. Subject to Plaid's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase, Inc. — provides secure database and authentication infrastructure. Subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted storage, secure HTTPS connections, and server-side token management. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), which will permanently remove your account and all associated data from our systems.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. You can delete your account and all associated data directly from within the app at any time. For other requests, contact us at the email below.
9. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
